The Special Session invites AIDS Ambassadors from France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Australia, Spain and the US to hold an analytical discussion on the status of political leadership and accountability for Universal Action. AIDS Ambassadors have demonstrated extensive knowledge and understanding of key challenges in HIV/AIDS. At several high level sessions they have called on action to address challenges, including better donor coordination, programs to address gender power imbalances, promoting an agenda for youth and recognition of the development impacts of the epidemic. The purpose of the Special Session is to address the role of AIDS Ambassadors in the global response and how they can be mobilized for greater action and accountability. The session will also provide AIDS Ambassadors with an opportunity to interact with delegates from science, community, PLHIV and policy on the key issues and priorities where there may be opportunities to advance policy advocacy and intensify action.
