The goal of this summit is to develop and present a declaration requiring that Housing be part of all HIV/AIDS policy development and implementation. Research has shown that Housing is an essential structural intervention that improves health outcomes of People Living with HIV/AIDS as well as serves as a sound prevention intervention. Unfortunately, the HIV/AIDS community, the homeless community and those parties that address poverty around the world have failed to fully embrace housing as a powerful and empirically validated intervention in the fight to end HIV/AIDS. This session will review the research that shows the causal correlation between stable housing and positive health outcomes and show how housing has been used as an effective prevention strategy. In addtion, there will be a working session the lays out how this research can be used in the global stratey to end AIDS. The outcome will be a declaration to be used globally to ensure that homelessness and poverty are addressed when developing and implementing strategies to end AIDS.
